Design / Construction
en-ca Aqua/green wool two piece ensemble of bodice and skirt. The Bodice is collarless but has a high necked lace jabot that is worn over the bodice opening. The centre front opening is fastened with hooks and eyes. The sleeves are leg o'mutton and end above the wrist with a large decorated cuff. The top of the cuff is decorated with a black and gold ribbon/trim. Appliques of lace and cut-outs decorate the cuff and a lace cuff is attached inside the sleeve and hangs to the wrist. Small cloisonne buttons are sewn onto the cuffs as well. The bodice extends to the hips but flares from the waist across to the hips and is full in the back. The edge of the bodice is also decorated with the same lace applique and black ribbon trim found on the cuffs. A black belt is embroidered with metallic thread. Two thin thread ending in two oval beads dangle from the centre of the belt. The skirt has a deep inverted pleat in the centre front. The lace applique seen on the cuffs and the bodice runs vertically from the hips.
